Dissipation
noun
a process in which energy is used or lost without accomplishing useful work, as friction causing loss of mechanical energy.
Example: In terms of practical design, there are many considerations which are made for instance, optimising temperature DISSIPATION during prolonged use, and minimising brake squeal.

Heat sinks
noun
A heatsink is an instrument used to lower the temperature of some electronic components. Its operation is based on the zero law of thermodynamics, transferring the heat from the hot part that you want to dissipate into the air.
Example: The heat sink operation is based on Fourier’s law of heat.

Isotropic thermal conductivity

Example: In an isotropic medium, the thermal conductivity is the parameter k in the Fourier expression for the heat flux.

Steady state
noun
the condition of a system when some or all of the quantities describing it are independent of time but not necessarily in thermodynamic or chemical equilibrium.
Example: Steady-state heat or mass flow is even, and heat or mass does not gather in a particular area.

Thermal expansion is called the increase in length, volume or some other metric dimension that a physical body undergoes due to the increase in temperature by any means.
Example: This insensitivity of the system to the ambient temperature can be explained through the THERMAL EXPANSION property of the material.

Transient thermal analysis is the evaluation of how a system responds to fixed and varying boundary conditions over time.
Example: Frequently, transient analysis is used to evaluate transitions in operating conditions before the system returns to steady state.
